Focusing on moods such calmness, stillness, and the unsettled, I use the human form as an instrument to explore these feelings within this work. I am interested in the contrast between the feeling of calmness and the violent, and what emerges in between this. I aspire to make the viewer respond to the work itself, rather than represent the emotions themselves. Furthermore, making the viewer question what they are looking at and getting an emotional reaction.
By using the process of creating monotypes as well as collage, I explore mark making, abstraction, and an ambiguous aspect of the human body.
